Clark County Commission on Aging Hosts “Aging in Place” Presentation

15Mar

A large audience joined for the Clark County Commission on Aging meeting today. Patrick Roden, RN and PhD spoke on the topic of Aging-in-Place. This is defined as “The ability to live in one’s own home and community safely, independently and comfortably, regardless of age, income or ability level,” according to the National Center for Disease Control. I asked the question, “How does mental illness impact this ability?” It was a question not easily answered and one which could be discussed for hours. There are many needs in our aging population  and we must work to support them more strategically.
